As we know, I recently started University and that means... FRESHERS! Partying, consuming products that are so bad for you, meeting your drunk friends and, yep, you got it, freshers flu!

So it hit me, I am officially a victim of freshers flu *cue sympathy*. Anyone that has been pounced on by this vicious infection will indeed know the days spent surrounded by tissues wearing an incredibly stylish duvet dress sneezing the nights away. I feel for you all, I really do.

Hooooowever! After all the snot ridden tissues, after every day suffered with a sore nose and after weeks of waking my flat mates up at 4:00 in the morning with coughs louder than thunder... I have good news. Hehe - struggling to contain my joy here. Just TWO nights ago I was taking a shower and I smelt my shampoo for the FIRST TIME IN TWO WEEKS!!!!! I know, pretty cool. Now For about five or six days now I have been able to smell the indian takeaways as I've walked past them but this is the first subtle smell and I was so excited.

How I feel ^^^^^^^^^^^

So, in preparation for next year I've come up with some tips for myself...

1. Your best interest should be to dress appropriately because being cold is definitely not helpful when trying to prevent a cold. Yes, you're heading out with all new people in a totally new place and you want to look glam but there are definitely ways to do that and stay warm. invest in a nice pair of jeans, stick on some tights or pick that casual long sleeve top and jazz it up.

2. Drink lots of water and warm drinks to ensure hydration and warmth from the inside that spreads outwards. It is super important to stay hydrated if you're going to be consuming high amounts of alcohol and staying up late. Green Tea is a good antioxidant boosting option but try to stay away from fizzy drinks since they're usually quite dehydrating though we may not notice. If you already have a headache I recommend mint tea - it's horrible (in my opinion) but it works. For a sore throat, definitely try hot water with honey and lemon!

3. Get soft tissues. The last thing you want after sneezing and coughing until you ache is rough tissues making your nose sore. I've been making my way through lots of Softies and Kleenex in my battle against freshers flu and my nose is softer than a babies bum. Don't turn yourself into rudolf before we've even had halloween.

4. Try your best to eat nutritious meals in order to prepare your body for the harsh conditions it's going to be put through. Vegetables are not to be over looked and spicy food like chilli is good for unblocking your head.

I've heard there's supposed to be a wave of freshers flu any day now so I wish you all the best of luck with sneezes, coughing and snoring. Remember, wrap up warm, stay healthy, use soft tissues and get some fresh air! Stay out of the way of anyone sneezing constantly and not covering their mouths too (I think that's how I picked this thing up). Also, if anyone knows how to get rid of ear ache including temporary hearing loss in one ear please please tell me.

Happy sneezing...
